Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein

Mary Wollstonecraft, was born August 30, 1797, and became Mary Shelley after marrying Percy Shelley at the age of 19. Her husband was a poet and knew Lord Byron, who was also a poet. While at Lord Byron’s home, Byron suggested that he and his guests write horror stories and share them. Upon that suggestion, Mary Shelley wrote the story of Frankenstein, and when it was published in 1818, it became a great success. Mary Shelley wrote other stories, but none of them were ever as successful as Frankenstein. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly died, February 1, 1851 of brain cancer.
