holidays. If you enjoy counting down any of your favorite holidays, then here is a creative way to make your own seasonal countdown calendar!
You will need:
A large recycled cereal, frozen pizza, or cracker box
Scissor
Construction paper
Pencil
White glue
Ribbon
Hole punch
Bag of your favorite foil-wrapped candy such as Hershey Kisses, peanut butter cups, mints, etc.
Optional Items: Basic craft supplies (Glitter, paper punches, stencils, etc.)
Tip: Oak-tag board or any strong paper can be used in place of a recycled box.
What to do:
- Decide what shape and size you would like your countdown calendar to be, and print out a template, or make the shape out of a cardboard box. (If you decide to make your own shape out of cardboard, skip to step 4.)
- If you choose to use a template, cut it out and trace it onto a cardboard box, then cut that shape out to form a cardboard template.
- Trace the template onto desired colored construction paper, cut the paper out, and glue it to the cardboard template.
- Once you have the desired shape, decorate your calendar with construction paper, glitter, ribbon, and any other craft supplies you have on hand.
- Pop a hole in the top of the calendar and tie a ribbon into a loop so the calendar can be hung up.
How to use:
Count how many days until the holiday or special event and glue that many foil-wrapped candies onto your calendar. Once the glue dries, hang up the calendar and pull one piece of candy off every day until they are all gone. The last one should be eaten on special day.
This project can be used for any holiday or special event!
Here are some suggestions for the month of:
December:
Christmas: Tree, Wreath, Bell, Holly leaves, Star, Candy cane, Stocking, Ornament, Santa with sleigh

I love it Fran. However, I'm not sure the candy will last as long as it is supposed to. I'd better buy extra to eat while we are waiting on the next day to begin. =)
That is a very good idea!:)
